Kobe Caricature Project

The goal of this project was to illustrate a caricature of a celebrity of our choice whilst maintaining a specific style which was a more geometric style. It's something that I'm not too familiar with but was a nice deviation from what I normally do. For the project, I chose Kobe cause not only did I enjoy and respect him as a basketball player but also his love, drive, and tenacity for the game. The fact that he would do whatever it took to be the best inspires me. I watched a good bit of interviews with former teammates of his and watched "Dear Basketball" several times to understand Kobe and make sure that this piece felt grounded and get across my respect for Kobe. This project also led me to do this illustration in my own style as well cause the beginning phase of simplifying the face and exaggerating certain features was a great exercise and study that I don't do often but is something I will definitely apply to my work more often.
